Hello everyone,

I could use some advice as I can't figure out what to do with my computer. The computer is probably 2 years old and has had very few issues.
First things first, my specs are:
Antec SonataI case that comes with the 380w TruPower Supply
Asus P4P800
Intel P4 3.0 Ghz
Seagate 120 Gb SATA
1 Gb Corsair ValuSelect
Nvidia 6800gt

So, I got a $15 dollar iTunes card, install iTunes, download an album (Spooky Tooth ... good old classic rock), and then plug in my USB cable for the iPod. Now, before this my computer had been running fine, no issues. I restart my computer and I don't get the usual ASUS splash screen. All I see is, "Bad BIOS Checksum" and it starts searching for a floppy or CD. Next thing I do is grab my motherboard driver disc and once it detects the CD, it flashes the BIOS. I am then told to restart, and it brings up the same screen. I go through this a couple times and finally decide to turn it off after the flash and let it sit for a bit. Once I turn it on again, it comes to the splash screen and starts the boot processes and then tells me, "CMOS checksum bad" and gives me the option to restore defaults. After restoring the defaults, it goes to boot Windows. Then I get a message before the Windows loading screen that reads, "-missing system32/drivers/ntfs.sys" and realize that probably isn't a good sign, not that all other things were :) It then recommends me to put in the Windows disc and do a repair; however, it doesn't detect my Windows disc when I put it in. So, I restart, and it comes back to the first screen I saw when this all started searching for the ROM to flash. Every once in a while, I can get it back to the point to put in the Windows disc, but yet again, I can't get that to work. Now, I can't figure out if it was a software issue after I installed iTunes (can't figure out how or why) or if it was just pure coincidence that caused this problem. Also, I have no clue where to start in fixing this issue. I appreciate any help you could offer and for the advice.

On a side note, I've never used iTunes, before this all happened, the purchase went through for the album. Is there a possibility I lost the album, or once I get this fixed, can I log back in and download it again?

Thanks again :)
Sincerely,
-Porter

Good news. I came home from work and I guess my computer likes me again as I got the flash to stick. However, I am still concerned about the message I got regarding the ntfs.sys file. Is there any concern I should have regarding this?

There is an xp feature that allows you to go back to an earlier install of xp before you had your problem, but I can't even remember the name for it. Don't do anything until someone else chimes in. I use win 2k.

FYI: that board sells for over $100 on eBay

I had a P4P800 Deluxe with the original box and goodies. It sold for close to $120.
Consider an upgrade while that board is so sought after...

Well, my computer seems to be running fine now. I get into Windows with no problem, iTunes is running well, and can transfer files back and forth to the iPod. The message I was getting was recuring for about an hour and a half. However, when I came back home and tried to work on the computer to fix the issue, it booted perfectly. I guess my question now is could there be an issue that caused this, and although it's running fine, it's something that could come back and bite me in the butt? I mean, should I be considering a new motherboard like some suggested or was this just a fluke and that is all? I will check into my system restore and restore it to before the issue started.

Thanks once again for all the suggestions,
-Porter
