I changed my mother board (nf4 opty 165 to p35/e8400) but missed a couple of amd drivers (with listscv I see that I left amdlld, amdpci and amdtools). How do I zap these (or disable them) while in repair mode so I can do a normal reboot and install intel drivers ?

Hum does the disable command do it ?

hum disable amdld disable amdpci disable amdtools
hum making progress...

ack now windows sez too much hardware change gotta reactivate...

Ok I could use more help.... I need to disable something else but can't find it. When I boot in safe mode or save mode with prompt - it always hangs after typing /system32/drivers/mup.sys -- but I'm unsure which service mup.sys is - to disable it in repair mode so i can boot....

Insert your Windows CD and start an install, it will find the old install and ask if you want to repair, say yes.

I tried that - oddly it seemed to leave the driver or whatever that was system dependent and killing things. Is there a way for me to log what is running and then reboot in safe or repair mode and view the log ?

get a knoppix cd, stick it in your drive, back up everything on your hard drive, format your hard drive and reinstall windows.

It isn't a good idea to swap a hard drive to a whole new system that is running a completely different processor, chipsets, drivers, etc.

Yes. But per thread the reason is to avoid having to reinstall the applications. I can't simply backup the drive and have the applications work when I reinstall windows 🙁

If it were linux it would be a non issue to reinstall the os - then again if it were linux changing the hardware would be a non issue.
