I think i've got a dead laptop.

The lcd screen is fine the case and keyboard are fine as well, some of the internal part may verywell be fine as well. How would i go about seeing, which still work and which dont, i'm a complet newb at anything really technical besides regular computer stuff( websurinf email and the easy ******) Would it be worth it to put new parts into it?

I got this guy for free, so why not? could i fix it for around $200-$300 ? thanks

More details, stat!!

Edit: Who made it? What model? How do you know the LCD is ok, does it turn on? If so, what happens?

Even if it isn't operational, do you at least know any of its specs?

I had it working for a few mins andi was playing around with it and i ran a movie that waso n it and the screen is fine, also i plugged my regular monitor into the laptop to see if it was the screen and it wasn't. ITs a compaq presario 1510t. i dont have the specs on it, because it was my sisters and she gave it to me.

Edit: this is my other post that describes what happens. http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=32&threadid=1817431&enterthread=y

I've been having scound thoughs and i belive its heat damage, because it was running really hot, ever since my sister bought it as i remember, how bad is heat damage for a computer.? would it affect all parts?
