Could this be a virus? Update: It was spyware. Fixed! :)

For some reason, everytime i restart and open up IE the default homepage goes to anywhere from some kind of counter to one of those silly-looking search engines.

I've already checked with NAV using the newest AV file but there doesn't seem to be anything.

NAV did manage to quarantine a Trojan recently - VerifierBug.class or something.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Also, my system just seems so sluggish now. Jumping from one window to another takes forever. Task manager doesn't show anything and CPU useage is normal.

that's the thing, it's not reset... i have it default to about:blank and after opening up IE and checking for the settings, it's still about:blank except now it has a space in front of it.

i would click on "use default" on the "homepage" option and then click on default reset on the "advanced" tab. Then see what happens.

Same thing... did all that several times. But after each reboot i get sent to out.true-counter.com and finally to global-finder.com

🙁

Edit: I found a thread elsewhere from google about the same exact issue! click - seems to be something related to Coolweb (e.g. adware?), odd thing is i haven't installed anything on this PC for months!

I'll see if that link provided helps take this darned thing out.
