Could there be something wrong with my modem?

Yesterday I got the self install kit from Comcast. I set everything up and tried to install the software and it asked for the resistration number. I didn't have the number, so I called to get it. After I got the number I tried to install the software again but now it doesn't work. Everytime I try it says it can't connect to the server. The modem is a Motorola Surfboard 4200.

as a comcast install tech, here's the scoop...

comcasts modems are now self provisioning.. meaning you have to call in the serial # and mac address BEFORE you hook up the cable.. they gotta add it to their database, then when it powers on, it downloads a boot file...for us techs, if we put the modem on before we call it in.. its not good for that account, we need to go grab another one from the truck...it will work at another account tho
