Morning,

I've just put an E8500 on a EP45-UD3 motherboard, and when i power on i get short continuous beeps signifying a 'power error'.

I have a 550 watt 2x12V 18A PSU, and 2x2GB Kingston HyperX 1066 MHZ RAM, and a G92 8800 GTS, and have tried the following:

Removing all RAM - I get a 'RAM ERROR' beep.
Trying RAM in single channel mode in first bank.
Trying older Kingston 800 MHZ in single channel in first bank
Trying 800 MHZ in dual channel
Removing graphics card from motherboard
Clearing CMOS with jumper and by removing battery
Making sure nothing is shorted on an open testbed.
Doublechecked all power cables were secure on motherboard (including the 8 pin)

I know the cpu is working as it came out of a different working PC.

Any suggestions on what i might have missed? I think i need to step away from it for a few hours.

Any input appreciated.

start unpluging usb connectors, firewire connectors, etc. Maybe they are wired wrong and causing short. Small chance but its one more thing to check.
