Could Reggie Fils-Aime be one of the most miss matched "high" ranking businessmen?

I admit I love Nintendo. But every time I see the guy deliver a speech or announcement I almost have to do a double take. THIS guy is head of Nintendo North America? Don't get me wrong I don't think you HAVE to be a geek or some other good "fit" to be successful. I don't have ANYTHING against the guy personally. It's just... every time I see him I can't help but feel like there's this jarring miss match somewhere. Again nothing against him as a businessman or the business world in general. It just seems, odd.

Am I alone in this?

He does a good job in the stockholders eyes, and that's all that matters unfortunately.

Bobby Kotick is a fuckterrible leader, but he pleases shareholders, so he stays, same thing.

Well if he's actually good for their stock I don't have a problem with that. Though I'm not entirely sure he is. It's just... when I think Nintendo I think:

And while I get needing a white face to head the North American division, every time I watch a video of him I can't help but think this guy is going to segue at any moment into a used car sales pitch. 😛

I think he's a good spokesman. hard to be thrilled about kiddy videogames at that age.

Just wish they picked someone who had a history in the industry and would then likely be at least some form of fan himself. And there are PLENTY of adult Nintendo fans out there.

I like Reggie and the game community for the most part does too. He knows how to take a joke and has a laid back feel to him while still doing what he has to do. I see and understand the feeling you get from him, but he doesn't push it at least and he is much more likable and down to earth then most of the other big wigs in the game industry that go up there and don't know crap about what they are spewing.

He makes impressive work at running his company into ground so I vote he needs to stay so we won't be endangered by total motion controls domination next gen 😉

totally loving your product doesn't mean you can run a company that sells it. in fact, you could probably argue that being completely apathetic to it actually helps run a company that sells it. loving your product means emotion would influence your business decisions and i don't think that's a recipe for success.

Well this is good to know! I only know him from his presentation mode personality.
