I am not sure if this is the right area to post my question in so please forgive me if I am in the wrong place.
I've got a tricky one that I can't figure out and thought maybe somebody on this board could offer a solution. I have a good friend of mine that is handicapped. He can only use the left mouse button because he uses a typing stick that is velcroed to the left mouse button. This allows him to move the mouse around and click the left mouse button. The problem he runs into is that he can't access the resources available utilizing the right click button. So I thought that if a double click of the left button would act as a right click or a left click + a mouse gesture for a right click. Maybe even if the left mouse button was held down for 3-5 seconds it would bring up the context menu/right click.
He has a Windows 7 64bit desktop with a logitech laser wireless mouse which uses the small usb unifying receiver. I have contacted Logitech support and they sent me here. They said that their software will not function in this manner, but they said that it could probably be done.

Any help would be much appreciated.....

Not sure how this ended up in Programming. Moving it to Software for Windows

Logitech support sent you here? 😵

Can he type at the same time as using the mouse? A macro set up from a function key, e.g. with AutoIT, might be able to right-click where the mouse currently is.

In the future, I suggest he should get a Mac. 😛 (Actually, a "hackintosh" might be a solution if you're up to it.)

104-key keyboards have a key that functions like right-click (normally between the right Windows key and right Control). Any way he can use that?

According to Microsoft Support, SHIFT+F10 Opens a shortcut menu for the selected item (this is the same as right-clicking an object).

Depending on how well he can use a keyboard, he could also turn on Mouse Keys, which will allow him to press a button to right click.

If not, I'm sure there are programs out there that will allow you to bind a macro function.

Thanks for responding to my question, all of you. Unfortunately the only thing he can do is move the mouse around and click the left mouse button. He uses the on screen keyboard when typing. He seems to manage o.k., but I know that I use the right click all the time and couldn't imagine not having it. It would be nice if the right click would function like "click lock". Instead of keeping the mouse clicked it opened up the right click. Thanks again

How about a mechanical solution? One stick set on a pivot, and direction of the press determines which click he gets.
