Could new memory make my pc freeze?

Im on a abit nf7-s2 mobo(shipping it to a buyer tommorow) mobile 2500 xp,and 768 mb 3200 kingston ram. before I just had a 3200 256mb stick in the mobo, then my 512 stick came in the mail, I was a lil cautious, because it did look different. THe grey boxes on the ram(chips?) where very small,I installed it, and everything ran fine. I was running my xp mobile at 6*200(the mobo is a horrible oc'er) it was running at that speed witt jsut my original stick of ram for like a week or so. Now all of a sudden its freezing. I even lowered it to 166*6. frooze while I was defragmenting. Could this be the ram? I think its just the mobo, not giving enough voltage to certain hardware.

I'm confused....

1. With just the original stick installed, does it freeze?

2. With just the new stick installed, does it freeze?

3. With both sticks installed, does it freeze?

And there are freee downloadable memory testers...some are floppy bootable or CD Rom bootable.....

Here is one from Microsoft (I haven't tried it, but it was first hit on my Google search)

Please answer the three questions above and try a memory diagnostic...... let us know!

1. With just the original stick installed, does it freeze?Never did before. Havent tried it singely, since I installed the 2nd

2. With just the new stick installed, does it freeze?havent tried this yet

3. With both sticks installed, does it freeze? yes with both sticks installed it was freezing, I was defragmenting my pc, and using dreamweaver at the same time on both occasions.

Ill try the memory test, and thanks for the relpy "-)
