could i use an lcd from an old laptop??

I'm planning on building a car pc, and was thinking of getting an old laptop and trying to use its lcd for a display, can it be done? I'm willing to go down to the component level, and modify some circitry, if thats what it'll take, or modifing the laptop to interface with a normal pc.

In a word: NO

LCD speaks Digital, and the interface harnesses are totaly random

There is a website that will allow you to interface lcd's with regular video cards, etc. I think they are called earthlcd's and I don't recall the url. Do a search, I am sure they can help.

theres a guy on these forums thats done it
hes a blast!!
he does a lot of i believe the rc5 cracking.
i think he has like an lcd connected to his pick-up truck cracking nodes or something
hes a blast!
only problem is i can't remember his user name!!!!
post a thread in the distributed computing section looking for him

he refers to his heard as like main comp = general
upgrading corporals etc...
if that helps any
