Could I purchase an old black rhino mount legally?

What is the law concerning the trade of old animal mounts that are now endangered? Specifically the black rhino? These mounts look to be pretty old...maybe the '30s or so? If it is illegeal to sell them, could someone give them to me legally?

I have seen exceptions to handgun laws for antique handguns. Maybe if this is certified(?) as an antique it will be treated differently by the law. That's is not a subject I know anything about so don't take my word for it though. It is just a thought that may be a useful lead.

Thanks for the thought. I'll see if I can find any info to classify it as an antique.

Anyone else??

The black rhino has two sets of horns. The horns are mounted on a wood "plaque" for display. Kinda like a deer rack - only with a rhino. There are two sets of them and I'd like to have them. They will be coming up in an estate sale soon, but I'd like to buy them from the owner before anyone else has a chance at the estate sale.

Well, with ivory, it's legal to have if it's from before the ban on harvesting ivory was enacted.

Right, but would it be legeal to sell it?
