The Yamaha YPG625 is a keyboard I've been looking into for a while now but I'm a bit confused. I'm wondering if I'll be able to plug my PC's surround sound speakers into one of the ports in the back of the keyboard, so that - when I'm playing, the sound can resonate throughout my home studio. Granted I didn't see any sort of 1/8'' jacks in the specifications, does this mean I'll have to buy some flimsy 1/8'' to 1/4'' adapter.

I vote "most likely yes." From the comments, it looks like there's a single 1/4" headphone/line out jack, which should be fine for a PC sound system. From the limited experience I've had with keyboard outputs, the signal can have a lot of static on it though.

So, yes, you can use your speakers.

So I will have to use some sort of adapter.. damn. In all of my experiences with adaptors, none have ever been anything near 'good quality'. Static and cut offs are just horrific.

I think you can. My brother has done it with his speakers. I'll try to find out how he did it.

As long as your speakers have a normal headphone jack type plug on them, then you can just plug them in.

However Kelemvor, the specs say nothing of a 1/8'' jack, which is what a typical headphone jack is.

Based on experience, (I owned several digital pianos over the years) most come with 1/4" headphone stereo jacks. The Roland i own now has separate left/right line-out 1/4" jacks as well.

Personally, I didn't like running the sound through my computer surround-sound speakers so I purchased a keyboard amp and some studio monitors. I'm an old-school piano player so i needed the sound coming from in front of me or at least from behind the keyboard. The keyboard amp I have connected to one of the line-outs on the keyboard, and the monitors i have on the headphone(stereo) jack which gives me a fuller sound. You can find good-quality cables on-line or at a music store with pretty much any plug option you need without using an adapter.

If you plan on doing any recording on your computer, that opens up another can of worms that you'll have several options to consider. (midi ins/outs, software, hardware, etc etc).

Edit: I did decide to do some recording on my computer, so my wiring setup has changed from what I just described. If you're interested in doing that in the future, I can go into that too.
