Could I play Battlefield 3 on my slow-ass system?

I've seen benches that show the GTX 460 1GB only gets 17 fps. With my SLI I might get 30.

I guess I'm gonna have to upgrade to 2 GTX 660s.

lol no

High settings are pretty close to Ultra settings and I get a nice 4x fps average in open field maps with a 5850.

Just play in High.

I can play the game on medium with a Core2Duo (@3GHz), 4GB RAM and a 5670, so I don't see why your system wouldn't be able to play it.

Yeah a single 460 will do BF3 fine at 1080p, just have to notch down a couple settings. I'd keep HBAO on personally, and turn down shadows and AA. It will still look great and run fine.

Your system looks more than capable.

At 1680x1050 you should have playable fps.

Turn off AA or play at high and don't try to force ultra and you will be fine.

He's just feeling an itch to upgrade lately, but can't find a graphics card worth upgrading to. Blame AMD/nVidia.

But don't feel too bad for him...

He'll be able to do all-high vsync locked at 60, no problem.

Stock 460 SLI = abit under stock 580 performance.

Can a person with a Geforce 580 play BF3? yes.... can you then? yes.

BF3 is a sucker for a good CPU.... checks your sig.

Yes you can play BF3 just fine, like others have said, 1920x res and High settings, and you ll probably have butter smooth gameplay.

High settings:

Since your 460 SLI are overclocked, you ll probably be slightly ahead of where the 580 is at.

I have zero issues with my 6850's with high graphics/msaa off. I can't see why it wouldn't be the same with your 460's.
