I had unplugged my monitor to do something, but must have accidentaly hit the button by accident, and when I went to plug it in, I saw sparks fly out the back of the monitor where the plug goes, I think that this has something to do with plugging in the chord when the monitor is on.

Has this ever happened to anyone before?

I heard that you should *first* plug in the monitor's power chord, then turn it on, but in my case, I didn't know that I pressed the button.

I also heard a *shocking* noise, like a few cracks, and pops, that were associated with the sparks.

That shouldn't have messed up your monitor. That is just your monitor's power supply wanting some current since the button is already turned on.

What better way to find out if its roasted then to just try it out. Turn off the power button and plug 'er up.

If it works when you boot up, then...well...it works! :p

If not, then you're pooch screwed.

I think it's normal to see small sparks in that case because most monitors draw a little power all the time, even when switched off.
