bought a tmobile g1. unlocked and rooted it. i'm on the $30 unlimited data plan for 'smart phones'. well my last phone i had my sim in was an old $20 go-phone. even though i'm using my g1 now it still shows on my att.com user page that i'm still using my old phone.

i'm guessing the g1(being a non-att phone) doesn't show up to them? i was thinking of calling telling them i want to downgrade to the $20 data plan(unlimited but for the non-smart phones)..

any one done this?

My understanding of Blackberry's and Android phones is their data usage patterns are different from other phones. Supposedly T-mobile will know what type of phone you are using even if you swap out the SIM's.

Having said all that, T-mobile is the nicest company concerning use of unlocked phones and swapping your SIM between phones of your choice. They might actually let you get away with it.

I had the G1 for a week and I loved it, but I didnt like spending too much each month for voice and data. If they could come up with a dirt cheap voice plan for low minute users I would jump back on.
