Could I get an opinion on this card?

Also, if this card is good, what would be a good manufacturer around the same price point, i know there is an asus and a sapphire around the same price.

A 6600GT will perform better for about the same price. A vanilla X800 will perform even better, but costs a little more. I can't say I would recommend the X600Pro given the other choices out there.

The 6600gt is better even though it ahs 128 mb of RAM and only 8 pixel pipelines? Could you tell me why? Hehe im kind of confused :)

Head over to Tom's Hardware Guide, then look at the performance.

Then stop wondering why and just accept that it is :)

That's pretty much the same advice most people would give including myself. The 1600 is not horrible, it's just not really good for the $.

It's from the 500/1000mhz clock speeds, which is pretty crazy for a mid range card, imo. That's why it does well.

I'd stick to a 256mb card even if it is a bit slower, but then I don't like swapping and prefer high res textures.

QFT... The X600 will not be able to make today's games run acceptable anymore, but we were talking about a X1600Pro here... ;)

However, compared to a 6600GT, this one doesn't fare quite well unfortunately... :( Look here for a review (although the tested version even has GDDR3)... As you can see the 6600GT beats it a lot of the times... IMHO, the true power of the X1600 still needs to come... If you can see how it performs in 3DMark05's Shader Tests...

@ BlackJesus: Great alternative... Didn't know there were 128MB GTO's with DDR2... Too bad this card is still "limited" to SM2.0b...

Faster than all those cards...AND cheaper

QFT. It's also unlockable to 16 pipes, making it the equivalent of an x800XT.
Not true... This one will not be unlockable...

Sorry, I actually misread the link (thought it was an X600, not an X1600; X1600 prices have clearly come down a LOT). You'll be looking at a similar performance level to the 6600GT with that card (the X600 is much slower). The X1600 doesn't have 12 full pipelines (it has 12 pixel shaders and 5 vertex shaders, but only 4 ROPs), so in a lot of games it doesn't perform as well as you might think. The 128-bit memory (and relatively slow DDR RAM) also hurts it considerably compared to other cards in the same price range.

Unfortunately you're not going to find any review on the 128MB... :( I was interested in it myself too, but then saved more and picked 6800GS... ;)

The DDR2 should probably take this card up to respectable speeds (the 256MB version runs @ 1GHz), so then it would only come down to the difference between 128MB and 256MB of RAM...

EDIT: Look up reviews of the vanilla X800, it's the same card in fact...
