Think about this:

1) Ramzi Ahmed Youssef, the man responsible for the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center and a member of Bin Laden's entourage, was hiding in his native Pakistan before he was extradited.

2) General Mubarrak deposes the Pakistani PM and assumes full military control of the country.

3) The New Pakistan refuses to hand over terrorists suspected of perpetrating US embassy and barracks bombings. Is Pakistan cooperating with terrorists now? I remember they once refused to allow a hijacked plane to land...and sent it to Afghanistan!

4) The New Pakistan provides aid to the Taliban government. In fact, Pakistan is the only country to legitimately recognize the Taliban as the official government of Afghanistan.

5) Pakistan at one point advertised sales of nuclear weapon components on the open market!

My source is Ram Narayanan with the Indian-American Political Forum in DC (yes, I do believe he is biased.) You can read the email he sent to fellow IAPF members below:

Dear [my real name]:

By now you would be aware of the horrific tragedy that has taken place in New York and Washington, DC. The attack on Americans on American soil vividly brings into focus the danger posed by international terrorists to democratic and civilized societies the world over. To Indians and Indian Americans, the attacks bring back memories of the terrorist bombings across the commercial district of the city of Mumbai (Bombay) at the height of a working day a few years ago.

We do not know who exactly planned the suicide attacks, and we should beware of jumping to conclusions. Those competent at investigation will do their job; let's leave it to them.

I am privileged to coordinate an action oriented group of Indian Americans as part of the US-India Relations Internet Group. It's called the Rapid Response Team whose key objective is to prepare responses and/or initiate proactive action to influence the people who matter in the America in favor of greater US-India relations.

On behalf of this group, I convey our sympathies and condolences to the families of the people who have died in this terrorist attack. This is a time for reflection and action. We should take this opportunity to once again contact our House Representatives and Senators, the newspapers and indeed the local government officials to highlight the roles of Afghanistan and Pakistan which have blatantly supported and sponsored international terrorist activities. Americans should never forget the fact that the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan with the full backing and support of Pakistan. In the last 15 years they have been responsible for over 60,000 deaths and countless maimings inside India. Pakistan, headed by its military dictator General Pervez Musharraf, is openly harboring, training, funding and deploying terrorists who are killing scores of Indian citizens every month.

The Twin Tower complex of the World Trade Center was attacked once before in 1993 with a bomb in the basement . A Pakistani national , Ramzi Ahmed Youssef , was found to be a chief perpetrator. When US investigators traced Youssef to his Pakistani home, it suited the Pakistan government to allow his arrest and extradition. However, with the rise of the Taliban and the overthrow of democracy in Pakistan, things appear to have changed . Pakistan's military government has been far less than cooperative about apprehending Osama Bin Laden , the prime mover behind the US Embassy and Khobar Barracks bombings . Indeed, Pakistan appears to have developed a penchant for Islamic terrorism, as evinced by the enormous popularity Bin Laden enjoys among its citizens .

President Bush rightly said that America should not make any distinction between terrorists and those who harbor them . I hope that the pivotal role of Pakistan in propping up the Taliban government, who in turn play host to Osama Bin Laden, will not go unnoticed. Kuwait , itself an Islamic nation, has refused visas to Pakistani nationals because of the threat of fundamentalist terrorism they pose . It's time for America to recognize that Pakistan, posing as a "moderate" Islamic nation, is really pulling the wool over the eyes of the civilized world . Let no one forget that this Pakistani government once advertised sales of nuclear weapon components in the open market, and may already be transferring nuclear weapons to the Middle East. The next attack on civilization may be using these weapons of ultimate horror, if the world does not act now.

Terrorism is a universal problem; no country and no citizen is safe. As President Bush said today, Freedom has been attacked, but Freedom will be defended. And Freedom must not be defeated nor blackmailed. India and the US need to join hands to face and destroy this monster together.

God bless America and India!

Ram Narayan is just trying to lobby support within the US government and people to destroy Pakistan by linking the WTC incident to this. This is wrong. Pakistan has been trying to get on US's good side for a while now, after the whole nuclear arms fiasco with India, and they won't be selling nukes to Bin Laden. Its too great a risk for them if they are caught.

Some Indian polticians are just trying to milk this as much as they can in order to destroy Pakistan. It's sad really...but then its expected from them.

This is all coming from a proud Indian who will stand by his country, but hate's the rift between Pakistan and India, which in my opinion is caused by the Politicans to gain support of the public by MAKING them hate the other country. But that's for another thread.

Terrorists would rather use biological warfares--they are low-tech, compact, stealthy, and lethal.

I think that Pakistan is plenty smart enough to realize that any nuclear attack they had a hand in will be responded to. There current bombs, while very dangerous, are firecrackers compared to what the US has. Pakistan is smart enough to understand this.
