could be fun -- X5

Definitely could be fun. I've seen a few LS1-swapped X5s of that gen out there, and LS1 powered E39s as well. For someone capable of that kind of project, it could be awesome, either that or a BMW tech with access to good deals on parts and with a bit of experience.

Otherwise it's a 10+ year old import that needs pricey repairs. Tar-baby syndrome in the wrong hands.

I'm not going to buy it as I am swamped with other projects (and still debating buying that bike).

Installed a 75 gallon water heater last saturday/sunday
need to replace timing chains on my jetta one of these weekends
getting my boats out of storage and going to sell one this weekend
going morel hunting
camping with scouts
purchase a larger shed and put it in
etc etc etc

No time to be screwing around with a high mileage BMW.

Well the CL listing is gone, but the LS1+X5 sounds really really fun.

Why not pick that up? Shoot, you could just clean it up and let it chill while the other projects get finished. I wish I could get into something like that, or a Cutlass Supreme of the early-70's vintage.
