Could bad ram cause random reboots?

Ever since I started using XP and put in a Generic piece of 128mb ram, I've been getting occasional reboots. What kind of problems can bad ram introduce?

I have had reboots too, but they were caused when new hardware was attempted to be installed. I think most random reboots are power issues, caused most likely by driver miscommunication? Did you test that RAM on the other OS? I agree bad RAM will give you blue screens of death.
