Could ATOT replicate the lighting of the beacons?

This would be interesting... But I doubt we could get the cooperation of all the members needed.

It might require us to relocated a few people to the midwest regions, but I do believe it would be possible. With the promise of a hot deal and pics of lindsey lohan (or whoever the flavor of the month here is), I believe anything is possible.

I could light one here in Alaska, and Maetryx is a couple of kilometers away and could light his as part of the relay... then we need someone in Anchorage, which is several hundred miles away. Not going to work. :p

Getting half of these people to go outside would be an accomplishment.

Getting us to go outside, climb Geek Mountain at location X at whatever time and date we judge to be best for visibility, piling up some sticks (nature, wha?) and straw, dousing it with lighter fluid (i think i have some from my last CPU cleaning...)... um lemme know how u make out

It would work up until someone posted a new slutty picture of Lindsey Lohan on here.

Back to my Alaska post, I guess we would need someone on top of Mt. McKinley to relay from the Fairbanks/North Pole area to Anchorage. Any takers? :p

We have a lighthouse a few miles from my house. I could light that up... Oh, wait, it's already lit 24/7. So I did my part.

Where did it say that LOTR pioneered it? A much better (though shorter distance) method that the Romans used was a series of large boards with squares that could be turned to one of two colors. A line of these could stretch from the battlefront back to the command camp or whatever. That way, messages could be sent consisting of codes corresponding to different situations/words.

The midwest is very Flat. Don't need people more than every 15 miles or so I'd guess...

It's flat enough here and there are the city lights are so few that I'm sure w/binos I could see a beacon pretty far
