Could anyone suggest a good voice recorder?

I got a few lectures from a friend before the last test, and they really helped when it came to studying. I wanted to know if anyone could suggest a voice recorder that isn't too expensive and encodes directly into a digital format, allowing me to transfer the lectures to the computer directly.

I have an iPod, in case there's an accessory that would allow me to do this.

Thanks very much!!!!

There is an accessory for an iPod that lets you record. Someone at school was showing it to me, but I can't remember what it was called/who made it.

If you want to go stand alone my roomate has been using a Sony voice recorder from BestBuy fairly successfully, but he did mumble something about not being able to turn it off without pulling the battery.

I guess I'd suggest tracking down that iPod accessory if you can. Seems best that way.

From what I understand people do not like the add-on for the iPod, it isn't that great at recording lectures unless it's recently changed.

Fair enough. Like I said I've never used it myself and can't vouch for its actual usability, but I thought I'd mention that it does exist.
