Could a tablet sell with an Ethernet port?

Can consumers have an option of wifi or wired Layer 1 connectivity?

Why can't one carry around a tablet, and use it stationery if an Ethernet connection is nearby? Would it be too costly to place an Ethernet NIC in them?

What tablet is thick enough to accommodate an Ethernet port anymore? I am sure you can do some USB to ethernet magic with the upcoming Windows 8 tablets if you are in a pinch . . .

This might work. :hmm:

Tablets are getting thinner, having an Ethernet port will defeat that purpose.

I think for the right price and specs, with a specific niche, it'd sell. But it would be far from having mass market appeal.

Whats the point? when 802.11ac hits its theoretically going to be faster or as fast as gigabit wired.

I would love a tablet with Ethernet and serial port. Would work great connecting to my routers and such.

I'm kinda surprised the original Toshiba Thrive didn't have one. That was a tablet that was thick enough to accomodate just about any port.
