Could a Smart Media card be used as a boot disk?

Yes it can but you must first making it bootable and your system must be able to boot from a USB device.

I think we will be seeing allot more of this in the future. It is the logical step away from the floppy disk and an alternative to CD's.

I have a 256MB card and it's no big deal. The 1GB cards will be cheap soon enough...

I guess you would to hit F9 during boot to see if it is listed?
