Could a fried CPU cause...

I replaced the video card, and have a mobo on the way. But I'm wondering if it could be the CPU...

Yes it is possible. When I first built my C2D P65 rig, I got the same symptoms everything spins up but no video when I finally resolved it, I had over tightened the mounting screws on my HSF causing the mobo to bow just enough that the CPU pins were not making proper contact. I suspect a dead CPU would act the same.

I think that may have been the problem with my rig. It came back to life after a week of being 6 feet under. Maybe the ThermalRight Ultra 120 is too heavy.

But the Q6600 is stable at 3.0Ghz. New mobo on the way which would allow me to up the cpu voltage (current board reboots in a never-ending loop if I try). Maybe I can hit 3.2/3.4 (cooling is the only concern). I'm still passively cooling, so worst case scenario, I'll add a couple fans.
