Could a bad NIC cause this?

Need opinions on a strange problem, I have about 4 PCs connected through a SRX200 router, everything is fine as far as access from all the machines except one, this one is an XP box and it won?t allow me to connect to the router config screen (192.168.1.1) and it doesn?t connect or connects very slow to certain websites such as gmail, although most websites open as normal, it is about a 4 Mbit connection on speed test sites. Strange thing is all the other PCS going through the same router connect to everything fine. I have reset the router, flushed DNS and all that, even reformatted and reinstalled everything. There is no spyware or viri on this box. I changed the patch cable which did no good, so the last thing that I know that could be causing it is the NIC which is why I am putting this in this forum, would or could a bad NIC do this, seems to me like it would either work or not, am I wrong? It is an onboard Nvidia NIC, the motherboard is a DFI lanparty UT version. Any ideas before I try a PCI based NIC?

Sounds like it probably is the NIC or the particular connection on the router. How about any specific settings for the card in the BIOS or is it just enable/disable?

Try the 'bad PC' on one of the router ports that seem to be working correctly (along with a known-good cable) to see if it could indeed be a bad port on the switch. If it still doesn't work I would first suspect the NIC. I personally have never seen an onboard NIC go bad, but there are enough people out there who have to make it a possible culprit.

Thanks for the replies, as for the BIOS settings, you are correct the options are either just on or off. And for the suggestion to try a different cable and port, as I mentioned I did use another cable but I didn't try a nother port, I will try that next and then if it is a no-go then I guess a new NIC will be the last thing to try.
