I have a P-II 233@300 with 75fsb and it runs just fine. I have a creative labs pci sound cards, smc pci network card, and a v3-3000 agp video card. I have a maxtor 2gig and ibm 16 gig hard drive.

Could running at 85 fsb hurt any of these components??

thanks

Yes a pci bus of 42.5 is deadly to most pci/ide devices. Most people are afraid of 40.5 pci busses 42.5 is just murder.

You most likely would not be able to use the 83MHz bus (I'm sure thats the bus your actually refering to). Most NIC cards will not run at anything above 40MHz PCI and old Maxtor drives are known to not run on 37MHz+ PCI bus speeds.

some peeps i know have been running their old pentium 1 for like years now under 83 fsb with no probs. then others have dead components. really depends on the quality of your parts, but i would stay away if i were you.
