Costco's Half Sheet Cakes

I've been tasked with ordering a cake for a party. Well, Costco looks like they have some decent made-to-order cakes! They're a little under $20, and serves about 50 folks.

Anyone eaten one of their cakes before? I tried looking for some taste samples, but they didn't have em out at the time. I guess my alternative is to order something from Safeway, but I've not been to impressed with Safeway's cakes. Do the Costco cakes pwn Safeway's stuff?

I need help! Anyone's who's eaten a Costco cake, please chime in!

I prefer the cream cheese or is it cheese cake filling/frosting. They are very good.

Not a fan of sheet cakes in general, so I've never tried the Costco ones, but they make very good baked desserts (pies, tarts, cookies, etc.) so I imagine their cakes are good too

Lessee...according to their order form, i have the choice of vanilla cheesecake, chocolate mousse, or strawberry mousse for the filling. for icing, there's white buttercream, chocolate buttercream, or philly cream cheese.

based on what you and FoBoT said, seems like i can't go wrong with either type of icing!

Yeah, so I wound up ordering a chocolate-mousse sheet cake w/buttercream frosting. I tell you, for $15, that's THE best cake I've ever had! Thanks for the recommendations, ATOT!
