You can return like anything to costco for any reason. (I haven't tried, but I understand that to be how it is.) They changed that rule for computers to six months though...because it was a ream job for them.

I've heard people abuse the return policy sometimes by "borrowing" a lawnmower for the summer or a snowblower for the winter. Some people return old milk, "rent" DVDs, etc. Although I think they probably have a lower overall problem with this then other places since most dirtballs that do this kind of sh|t wouldn't be willing to pay a yearly membership fee for the priveledge.

I'm planning on buying a LCD monitor soon and I've pretty much decided that costco is the only place I'm going to buy from. It seems like half of the LCDs have some sort of problem even from the better manufactorers...stuck pixels, backlight bleeding, etc. I'm NOT willing to shell out the cash for a new monitor thats BROKEN and have the company tell me they won't accept a return because it isn't broken ENOUGH. At least with costco I'm pretty confident they won't hassle me about exchanging the monitor until I get one that works.

PingSpike, well what's with this 3-Year Advance Exchange? Someone is saying anytime within the 3 years you can take it back or exchange it for a new one.

Hell I think I'm going to go Costco all the way too.

I mean that is crazy! LOL ;)

I'm not sure what that is, it wasn't listed on the other monitors I'd looked at so maybe its just a Dell thing? I'd drop them an email or give them a call. I'm trying to find a piece on the website that specifically outlines the return policy, but all I can find is a little blurb about the computer exception being 6 months. They may not advertise it as openly for fear of abuse. And 6 months for any reason on PCs is still pretty damn good!

You could ask them to clarify. I was going to ask one of the reps in store when I finally decide to buy, just to be sure.

The only thing that stinks about costco is they only carry a limited number of products and those products change all the time. They pretty much buy what they can get a good deal on, and if that deal dries up they start stocking another product and the old one disappears. The good thing though is you can return the monitor to one of their warehouses instead of shipping it back if you like. I'll probably buy it right from the store, since I have a costco about 10 minutes from my house...but some of the products are only available online.

Well I just renewed my Costco card and ran a cart check on the LCD:

Subtotal: $799.99
Shipping & Handling: $0.00
Tax: $33.28
Order Total: $833.27

With the Costco return/warranty policy this is WAY worth it.

Now last question, I heard when these came out there was some lag in them, but I read somewhere that they fixed this issue with the newer releases.

Anyone have a date on this, as to what month for this year I want to be on the look out for, to make sure I get one with the problem fixed in it?

THANKS

P.S. Well like I said this guy keeps telling me you can return or exchange it within 3 years for another one, which seems real wacko to me, LOL.

Here's the post I made at Hard|Forum where I was told this:

Honestly I'd call costco and have them clarify. I'm not saying that guy is full of it...just that I like to get the word from the horses mouth myself.

I think the key word is "service", i.e. if your monitor needs to be repaired, maybe they send you a new one before you send the old one back?

That is how it has always worked IME. The warranty coverage is such that you get the new unit before you have to ship the old one out, you just provide a CC#.

with costco you could probably even bring it back after the 3 years.

I work at Costco in Plano (east), Texas. Yes, you can return anything, at anytime, for a full refund. The only thing with restrictions is comptuers, which have a 6 month return policy. Christmas trees returned in April :p Its quite entertaining.

Costco warranties are amazing.

I got the monitor from Dell at $640 last week, but I don't know if that deal will be back anytime soon. Amazing display, btw - the colors are rich, and CS:S at 1920x1200 is AWESOME... the heads are SO BIG, and easy to point to!

So if there is a problem with it, within the warranty time, up to 3 years you could return it, if there was a problem with it for another one?

WOW

Why they heck would anyone pass up buying from Costco is beyond me, with a return deal like this, that's insane! ;)

Does the return have to be exchanged for the same item? I'm guessing not, but wouldn't that allow someone to buy a display, use it for like two years, and then get all their money back and buy a new and better one? I guess that's the whole idea, but it sure seems ripe for abuse.

The question is: Do the employees care? Say you buy a nice TV, and 5 years from now, you return it and buy a new nice TV..do they try to stab you with their eyes or are they totally cool with it...

Yeah no kidding, LOL. Gee I guess I'll never need to buy another now, LMAO ;)

Damm I wish Costco sold the HP L2335, or that when the 2407 comes around the 2405 will go on sale.

yeah sure you "could" do that. I think its more about your morals though. Would you really want to screw over a company that is so nice about their return policy?

Alot of people are turned off by the yearly $45 for a regular membership or the $100 for Executive. Either one is totaly worth it so its really a deal but it still seems to turn most scammers off.

No I wouldn't but if it dies on mean in that time, I guess then this is cool for my warranty I'm returning it for a replacement.

But with the 2407 soon on the way I wonder if I should hold out a little longer and see if they go on sale. My luck the 2405 will be just phased out, hehe and I'll miss out on getting one.

ALOHA

P.S. Now does anyone know about the lag issue I asked before?

I've had one since they first came out. I don't notice ANY lag. Is there any? I have no idea but I have a feeling if I was was constantly behind 50ms + and internet lag I would really suck at FPS games which of course I don't....
