Costco without membership

Can you shop at a Costco warehouse without having a membership? (Like a one-day trial shopping pass where you pay price + 5%?) I haven't been to the local Costco in several years and would like to see what it's like today...but I can't justify paying for a $45 membership beforehand.

I know the costco around here lets you, but you have to pay a % (I think 15%) over the cost of the item.
