I received my $660 Citi Costco rewards check in the Feb statement. Last year it was over $1,100 for Amex Costco but I'm not using the Citi card much outside of gas stations and Costco now. It's good card but I started charging all dining and travel to Chase Sapphire Preferred and now Sapphire Reserve for the 3X dining and travel points. UR points are worth more to me than straight cash.

Damn you still spent a lot for $660.

LOL, Costco is still hating American Express. Called Costco Travel this afternoon to figure out what forms of payment they accept. I get the dissolution of relationship with Amex and expected them to say Visa only, but they surprisingly accept MC as well. So, they will accept MC in addition to Visa, but hell no to Amex. Costco can hold a grudge!

Grudge or not, it's still fairly common to see places only accept Visa/MC, I think they have the best network rates. Amex and Discover are quite different in that they maintain their own cards and network, and very rarely offer any branded cards that they don't provide directly. I'm sure there rates are a little higher.

I was trying to suggest that Costco accepting MC as being odd. They don't accept it in Costco, but they do in Costco Travel. So, if Costco Travel is going to deviate from Costco Warehouse then why not one step further? Rhetorical, of course.

I'm still trying to figure out why Citi only wants to give me half the line of credit of my lowest Amex credit limit (have several Amex accounts). As a result, I'll not be able to use the cobranded Costco Citi Visa for this year's vacation and instead use Barclay MC. Idiots.

Costco's website also accepts Discover. Nice workaround to take advantage of Discover IT's 5% "Wholesale Club" category this quarter.

Stupid point to try to make - they accept most forms of payment at Costco.com. You can theoretically buy a Costco gift card with a discover on Costco.com, and use it at Costco without even having a membership if I recall.

that said, the Citi card in general isn't that great - I hate spending to get a gift certificate instead of cash to be honest, and most of the categories have been covered with higher percents on my other cards.
