citi Costco visa card online verification:
You agree that if this is a cell phone number or a number you later convert to a cell phone number that we or our service providers can contact you at the number by autodialer, recorded or artificial voice, or a text. Phone plan charges may apply.

WTF?!

Common lately /w all banks it seems. From my understanding they need to do this to text or robo call you /w alerts etc... They probably outsource some of it to affiliates which is why they mention service providers.

The citi Costco visa is PRIMARY for car rental damage insurance!!!
Deductible? I usually buy the rental agency's insurance as it has saved me in the past.

I remember back in 2010 I rented a large SUV for three days from the Orlando airport. In those three days enough body damage was sustained by ass hats in parking lots to save me a bundle. The scratches and dents were just crazy as people parking in the hotel lot for Disney cruise ship were ruthless.

It was amusing turning the vehicle in with all the damage and the person said, "you're good to go." Thank you Jerry Seinfeld!

That has to be a place to avoid!

Can you please demystify this for me? IOW, explain in a few sentences what this means?

Perhaps, I'm guessing, that if you use the card to pay for the car rental Citi will take the hit if you have any damage or accidents, not your own car insurance company?

most credit cards have secondary rental damage coverage.
which means you have to file w/your insurance company first.

primary means the credit card takes care of it directly.

but I don't see the website saying that's it's primary?
only the pamphlet they sent me.

It's only primary for international car rental. For domestic rentals, it's secondary. Since Citi Costco charges 3% foreign transaction fee, it's not a good international card.

Chase Sapphire Preferred is primary for all car rental. And CSP has no foreign transaction fees.

Thanks for the correction, I'll stick with my Amex BCE for future car rentals.

I used to use my AmEx Blue at Costco gas. This past week they had a offer for 10% rebate for gas until Sept. Good for up to $25. Sucky part is now Costco doesn't take it and the BP that I use sometimes has a $.10 discount for cash or their credit card.

We’ll cover you up to $100,000 per occurrence, per vehicle, toward the cost of repairs or the cash value of the car, whichever is less, if a covered accident or theft occurs when you pay for a rental car in full with your Citi card and decline the rental company’s collision loss/damage
insurance. You can save money and gain peace of mind knowing that you’re covered, no matter where you are in the world. If the rental company requires you to accept its own collision loss/
damage coverage, this benefit will only cover the cost of your deductible with the rental company if an accident occurs.

In the United States, the coverage provided by this benefit is secondary.

I get an email yesterday, July 15, from Citi urging me to set up autopay. I'm WTF, I already did that, have the confirmation number, payment is supposed to happen on July 15, which is two days before the due date (that was my choice). I'm on hold now waiting for a live CSR, been there over 10 minutes, the longest phone wait for a CC company I have had in ages.... :whiste: Sheesh, it's Sunday 9:20PM, I'm unimpressed. Over 15 minutes now... The same loop is playing over and over......

Over 20 minutes now, this is looking hopeless. :(

Finally I get a CSR and explain that I enrolled in autopay 3 weeks ago and have a confirmation number. She looks it up and says I am indeed already enrolled and I can disregard the email.

Citi must be going through huge growing pains. Whenever I call Amex or Discover I usually receive an answer within 1-2 minutes.

Discover is great, always North American based customer support based in Utah, Arizona, etc.

I got the same paper mail and email, after I already setup auto pay.
I checked online to verify and Auto Pay WAS NOT setup.
Sooo... I set it up again.
Those bastards better not pull it twice.

OK, after verifying that Amex did not give my personal account information to Citi and haven closed my CostcoAmex account before the change, I have now opened a CostcoCiti Visa account and bewildered by something. While trying to manage the account profile, I wanted to changing my mailing address to my USPS Box. I do this with all credit card accounts, CostcoAmex being one of them. But when I try to change the mailing address in Citi it will not update. There isn't anything explicit about using a PO box--just a foreign addresses.

Anyone have a post office box address for their mailing address? I used the online secure messaging app to send a question about this and currently waiting on their official response.

Wait, after all your temper tantrum, you still going to open and keep CostcoCiti Visa? That's weak.

I got my $416 Executive Membership cashback check yesterday. Time to cash it in. It's pity Costco Travel don't count towards 2% Executive Membership cashback or else I would've maxed out the annual $750 cashback on the membership.

So all you did was kill your age of accounts? Okay.

Yeah, until I just got off of the telephone with them (~5 min ago) and told them I would be cancelling the card. Forth transaction locked the card, tagged fraud. Had to call them about the embarrassing situation of being in a department store buying the wife a birthday present and being declined. Got gas, lunch, third purchase and then the card stopped working. Had to use an Amex.

Called them and they required my name, bday, residential address, a mobile phone for text message for code and then the security questions before even speaking on the locked account. Nice, never had this experience before with Amex. Then once they resolved the fraud she couldn't tell me when they would unlock the account. I stated this was embarrassing enough being declined over a $250 purchase considering last year I ran $60K through my Costco Amex last year. She hangs up on me.

Never raised my voice (wife stood over me to insure I was polite). Never got an apology. Nothing, but left with the feeling of 'go fuck yourself'. So much for being unworthy in Citi's eyes. Rude, unapologetic and with a wealth of indifference in their customer service. Fuck them and fuck Costco.

Amex fraud department is way worse. Sounds like you never had the pleasure of conversing with them while traveling outside the country. Amex slogan of "Don't leave home without it" is a joke if you're outside the US and have to deal with their fraud department. Don't bother calling them after US hours as you'll be talking with someone in India and they'll tell you to call back during normal business hours. And when you wait and call back during normal US business hours, they won't help you because you're not calling from your US number. None of these companies are your friend. Amex will disappoint you too. You just wait.

So you just recently canceled your CostcoAmex, with age of credit, and now you've canceled your CostcoVisa almost immediately after opening the account? Holy shit dude.

Having dealt extensively with Amex, Chase and Citi Citi has, by far, the worst customer service of the three. Even the service for their top tier card sucks as the reps are clueless and have almost no power to do anything. I did not experience the issues you did when calling Amex's fraud dept at 3am EST. It was a quick phone call and resolution although Amex hasn't kept up with the times and their policies\procedures\offerings have fallen behind. Chase makes both of them look like terrible in comparison

If he has established credit age of accounts doesn't matter that much

This reminds me, Costco has amazing pesto. It's the one in the jumbo-sized jar, of course.
