Hey, a man's gotta eat and in bulk. This is commendable. Consumerism in the US is out of control.

This is the time where I mention that the company I work for gives us the entire week of Thanksgiving off, with pay.
What they don't tell you is that Costco employees WILL be working Thursday night to prepare.
Don't believe me? Ask someone who works at one.
That's a load of BS. Its a PR campaign and "nothing more complicated than that". Everything a corporation does is for profit. Making people think that Costco holds the moral high ground is likely to bring in more business and they will make up the loss from closing on thanksgiving.

So? It's still a win-win situation for both Costco and their employees.
If you keep your employees happy, you get increased productivity and less turnaround. Customers get a better shopping experience. Which means more money in the bank at the end of the day.
Meh.
Just give me a delicious turkey TV dinner, and send me to my room for a day of video games!

Funny, so many of you blame the companies.
I blame the people. If idiots were out there exercising their consumerism.......employees wouldn't be forced to work.....
Black Friday and other "consumerism" created crap are the best days to stay as far away from stores as possible.
Most of the "deals" are worthless anyways, within a month or 2 you can obtain better deals anyways.
And my christmas shopping is done by black friday anyways.....
Only in today's society can the masses think that such a gesture is anything other than genuinely caring for their employees and their family.
Nope, it's gotta be some kind of P.R. scheme or additional money making tactic and not just a genuine business that has decided not to appease its share holders with disgusting profits on the backs of their minimum wage, part-time employed staffs with no benefits other than those paid for by the hard working American taxpayer. Nope.
Man some of you guys sure are fucking jaded in life anymore.
Yep, whenever I do something out of the goodness of my heart, I have a spokesman make a press release about it.
good for them... if I was an employee, though, I'd probably rather have the extra hours/OT.
lol who the fuck lines up and shops bnm now for black friday, so much easier to just order it online
they might.
my wife works for Vestas making the blades for the windmills. Vestas rule is if you are scheduled to work a holiday that they are closed you still get paid and you get paid time and a half.
that's kind of a kick in the nuts for people who don't happen to be scheduled that day, though, no?
