Costco Dell Inspirion 660 good deal?

What do you guys think about this deal? Main use will be just for normal things, HD video playback, and just for photography.

You can suggest other pre-built deals or barebone deals with similar or better specs.

Seems a bit expensive. I dont think you need an i5 for normal casual use. The video card is also very weak, probably not much stronger than the igp. I would look for an i3 or even a pentium from Dell outlet or Lenovo outlet, or even local stores like Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, etc.

I don’t think $549.99 it is such a bad deal for those specs.

As a comparison, Micro Center has the exact same computer for $599.99, but you’ll also need to pay an additional $28.10 shipping on top of that higher price.

I think in order to get a better price on a Core i5-3330 desktop you'll have to drop down to lower specs:

Some examples:

This Lenovo H430 is $469.99 with free shipping:

You'll lose usb 3.0 and the Nvidia GT620 with this one, but it does keep the 8GB Ram and 2 TB HDD.

Gateway DX: $419.19 with free shipping:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16883113265

You’ll lose the Nvidia GT620 and step down to 1 TB HDD and 6 GB ram, but it does have 2 usb 3.0 ports.

Looking at that $419.99 Gateway DX Core i5-3330 a little more closely in the Newegg Image gallery I spotted that it had a FSP300-60THA power supply:

Not bad at all for such a bargain rig!

Just bought that for my mother. Overall, Dell has decent custoemr support (as far as I've experienced) and the specs will keep her happy as a basic user for 5 years. Costco also extends your warranty significantly (2 yrs?), plus they require the use of Amex which gives you yet ANOTHER year of free warranty coverage.

Yeah you are paying extra for a discrete GPU that is barely better than the IGP. That PC should be selling for $440.

True. 22 amps on the 12volt rails combined. I had an Acer off the shelf system that had 20 amps on the 12 volt rail that worked flawlessly for 5 years.

Hard to get angry about a weaksauce GPU (most people's "demanding" gaming sessions involve playing Bejeweled while downloading porn) when I read this:

That's worth a few bucks, there.
