Was about to sign up my parents for the Costco TrueEarnings business card. (5% gas, 3% restaurants, 2% travel, 1% everything else)

Then found out they have the Costco Amex Cash Rebate card. LINK

Year-to-Date Purchases\ Cash Back on Everyday Purchases*\ Cash Back on All Other Purchases
$0 - $6,500\ 1.0%\ 0.5%
$6,500.01 - or more\ 5.00%\ 1.5%

* "Everyday Purchases" are Eligible Purchases made at U.S. supermarkets, gas stations and drugstores

so basically if they only buy non-"Everyday Purchases", then the breakeven point is $13000/yr.

Anything above that and the Cash Rebate card is better? (they dont carry balances to the next billing cycle.)

As I understand it, the cashback feature on that one card works retroactively once you hit $6500. Every purchase you've made from $0-$6500 suddenly applies for the 5%/1.5%. But, I don't have that card; it's just what I've heard.

yup, if it's anything like my blue cash card...
It's pretty much 0.5% for anything under $6500.
there's way better cash cards out there..

Sounds about right. I have the TrueEarnings card and never really considered switching but the 5% on the supermarket sounds nice.
