Cost to tow (flatbed) a car?

My warranty with roadside is running out and have to get it through insurance. Trying to decide between $100, $150, $200 reimbursement limits for flatbedding an SUV "to the nearest facility". What is the typical avg for this in your experience or observations? I've heard $125 so $200 would seem like overkill, even if the premium difference isn't that much.

How many times have you had your vehicles towed so far?

Unless you've had some terrible luck I don't expect its very many times. I'd probably just swing for the $100 reimbursement but what are the premium differences?

I've towed my car twice in 6 years. (Either the alternator or the battery failed and took the other with it.)

First time was $150 (was out in the boonies - 20 mile tow, then arriving at the dealer during rush hour) and the second time was $60 (for <1 mile, as I was driving by anyway.)

Compared to the repair costs involved, the towing was insignificant.

Of course, now I know how to swap an alternator, so the NEXT time, the tow will be the expensive part.

I wouldn't get towing coverage if that's all they're offering. If it comes with additional perks, then it might be worth it.

For example, my roadside through our insurance includes labor for a repair (I'm responsible for parts). Normally I do all my own work, but if I'm away from home without the facility to do the work (which is fairly often) then it could pay off immensely. Currently have two cars over 100k miles, so it's not a matter of if but when something major will come up.

If something happens while I'm in my home town, I'll get them to tow it to my house and be done with it. I don't want anyone else working on my stuff if it's avoidable.

That's a great product. Never seen this but would jump all over it depending on the cost. Would you be willing to share insurance co name and how much it runs you?

They've changed the wording for it since I got it. Now it's "on-scene labor". Oh well, whatever gets me moving again.

Anyway, total package (which includes all below) costs me $3 a month between our two cars. One is only 5 years old and is only $1, the other is 15 years old and costs $2.
