I'd like to get some extra light in my garage. I have 2 car metal garage door.

Any idea how much it would cost to get the top panel retrofitted or replaced with a panel that has windows?

I looked into that about 10 years ago in California. IIRC, it was about $300 for them to come to my house, remove the door panel, take it to the shop, cut the window openings and fit them with glass, then come re-install the door panel.

I've got plenty of artificial light in my garage already. I just want some natural light. I have to keep the garage door closed 90% of the year to keep the garage at a comfortable temperature.

I don't like spending my afternoon in an artificially lit garage. I usually keep the garage door half open to let some light in and just suffer the temperatures.

@BoomerD, $300 doesn't sound bad at all.

More light for $17 😉 http://m.harborfreight.com/double-garage-door-screen-68310.html?utm_referrer=direct/not provided

From what I recall on ordering "custom" garage doors, of wonder I you could order a new metal panel with the windows already installed.

Interesting. If I don't get windows installed, that would be great to have during the summer to keep the mosquitos out.

I'd prefer to have the door closed though so I can have A/C. It's 100+ degrees outside a good portion of the year and I can't go in the garage without pouring out sweat. I want to start doing woodworking with hand tools, but that's not any fun if you're hot.
