so...im buying this place and am looking for a general pricing on how much it would cost in a post-war building to upgrade from 60 amp fuses to a 100 amp breaker.
im sure a lot depends on a ton of factors...but i dont even know what those factors would be. any help or information at all would be great.

thanks.

depends on your local market.

however, I would recommend at least 200 amp service. It shouldn't cost but a few more $$$ for the larger box unless they have to run new line from the pole to the house. I upgraded my service a couple of years ago, and it literally only cost an extra 50$ to go to 200 amp. we paid about $1100 total and that included a few little upgrades around the house. We had another quote for $2100.

150 amps $1385 , 200 amps $1485

Yeah, well 100 amps is not a lot. I might be wrong, but wall outlets, lights, and microwave pretty much account for 100 amps worth of circuits... throw in anything else like a stove, dryer, workshop or even just a garage 20 amp circuit and you're maxed out.

well, id have no problem going for 150. i think 200 would be a bit much. laundry is kept in my seperate basement area (powered elsewhere) and the garage is located in another building.

My house has 100amp and I've never had any problems with it but then I haven't ever ran the microwave, stove, dryer, air compressor, a/c, all the lights, and TVs at the sametime :). I'd go 200 though.
