I have a '00 Cavalier 2dr with ~82K on the odo.

The car did not come with power windows. It's not a huge deal to not have them seeing as how there are only 2 doors on the car, but it would sure be nice to have them. I was looking online at custom-fit kits and it looks like I could get the kit plus the switches and wiring harnesses for about $300. I'm not exactly a pro when it comes to working on cars, so I would probably have a trusted shop do this. How muchdo you think would I be looking at in labor? Do you even think that getting power windows installed would be worth it?

The best thing to do is open the door and see if the wiring harness has a plug for the power windows. Usually they use the same wiring harness for all cars and just leave it unplugged.

If that is the case then just go to a junk yard and strip a 2 door Cav's power window parts. That way you know how to reinstall and it will look and be OEM. So if oyu ever need parts just go get some for your Cav as a Cav.

I second Marlin's suggestion, it's the best way, even if the wiring has to be run.

Power windows are an easy install, at least the universal kits are... I installed both power windows and locks in my old car, a Chevy Prism (rebadged Toyota Corolla). Didn't take too long.

Locks took 1.5 hours and the windows maybe 2-3hrs max.

If you don't mind having trim pads on the doors that have a hole in them where the window crank used to be, go the junkyard route.

You might also want to research where the power window switches reside. You may have to replace the console or console trim.
