If an employer paid 100% health and dental insurance coverage, both are PPO, what would be an approximate out of pocket cost per month for premiums if an employee wanted that type of coverage and a company provided 0% coverage?

My coverage through my employer (the federal government) is something like $300/month, but I only pay about $75 of that. If you wanted to pay for it yourself, I guess it'd be around $300/month.

A LOT.

depends on how much your deductibles are, the coverage, and also your health.

If you don't mind me asking, is that PPO or HMO?

Blue Cross HMO.
I don't know whether a PPO or HMO typically is more expensive.

Depends on the plan, but for my single person coverage ppo it is between 100-200. I pay 10 bucks of that. I could get a policy on my own for ~80 a month I think. I had priced a few plans after college and before full-time employment.

In other words, if I were paying 100% out of pocket, I would have a higher deductible, etc.

What coverage do you get for that? I know my plan at about $300/month covers basically everything, no deductible, etc.

We had great blue cross blue shield family coverage (it skyrockets once you add a third person to it; single and couple is not bad) and if my employer paid nothing it was going to cost about $750/month for us. That is great coverage with minimal deductibles. You can get your own for a family for cheaper, but you better have a lot of money in the bank in case something goes wrong because the deductibles will blow.

here we go on major hospital stuff...30% of everything until $900 for the year, and then 10% of anything else until $3600 for the year.

kind of an weird one, I'm not sure if I understand it correctly
