I understand the city of Dallas wanting to keep tabs on everyones pets....and rightfully so for dangerous breeds.

However, why did it cost me over $30 (apparently this is annual) to register and have a pet in the city of Dallas.

Fuck local government shit!

Dog and Cat Registration
The owner or harborer of a dog or cat must have the animal vaccinated either annually or tri-annually for rabies, present a certificate of vaccination, and pay an annual registration fee to Dallas Animal Services to obtain a registration tag for the animal.

For more information, call

Dallas Animal Registration

Dallas, TX 75212

My dog is a Welsh Corgie.....small breed with tiny legs. I am getting a cat this weekend too....guess I will have to spend more money to have him in my home. Where the hell does this money go?

Do you guys actually ever stay on topic here or is Off Topic really "Off Topic" from the OP's original question/opinion/rant/whatever?

Corgie? You sure you're not a woman?

The cost is probably to run all the animal services/shelters.

The latter. You'll quickly learn that Off Topic on these forums is a mess and nobody cares about the topic on hand. If there was an actual forum on the internet somewhere that only let in mature adult conversations, I'd be there in a second.

I disagree. I may like pie, but I think it cake, and cheesepie are on equal footing. Depending on variety of each, of course.

In Arlington, the fee is $5.00 per year.

I have an idea of why the fee is higher in Dallas, they want to limit the number of animals you can own. I read a local story of a "cat women" that had a large number of cats in her home and she had no means to take care of them. Most were sick and probably put down. Just a guess why they implemented the higher fee, not to mention the city needs the money this year.

I still think it's a hybrid. If I had to choose I would say it's a pie though.

To be on topic, my guess is they like the revenue.

In my experience, cities start programs and charge just enough to cover the cost of the program - like the costs associated with the dog license. Then at a later date they want revenue, and just up the fees from random programs to do so.

(I'm not bitter. :p)

I will give a beating to any man who calls cheesecake a pie in my presence. It is cake!
