Just wondered what the approximate cost would be to ship a case . ($30. - $40. ?)

Finally got my sis' computer ready & want to ship it to her . Any suggestions on packing , etc would be helpful .

Thank you :)

So you are the person who is sending the case?

You can go to UPS estimate if you know how much your package weighs, and its dimensions.

Probably be about 25-30lbs. Fedex ground will probably cost you between $12 and $20 depending on how far your shipping it.
If your shipping ground though I'd strongly recommend packing the hard drive and possibly the cd-rom in a seperate well packed box.

Fedex will probably be cheaper but in my experience they will take the difference out on the box...buncha box-beaters! (and slower). Their ground service is nothing like the reliability of the air service.

FedEx Ground is cheaper than UPS Ground. However, you have to be a business do use FedEx Ground. You can't just walk into a FedEx place with your box and have it shipped Ground. So maybe you could ship it through work or have someone with a FedEx business acct. number ship it for you.

Also, UPS Ground is probably a little faster than FedEx Ground considering UPS has a huge-ass network.

Rock on.

To get an approximate weight, first stand on the scale without anything in your hand. Then stand on the scale with the case in your arms. Subtract your first figure from the second, and there's your approximate weight! You can use this number at the UPS website to get a fairly accurate cost estimate.

Edit: Of course, this method will only work if you have a scale. ;)

You can just signup and print the label online for Fedex Ground, you don't have to be a business AFAIK. They are cheaper, faster(Ground in 5 business days across the country, I've had UPS take over a week shipping from TX to CA), and take much better care of packages than UPS.
