You could go for a S3 Savage4 board like the Diamond Stealth III. Diamond may be on the way out, but you could do far worse for the money. The Savage4 itself is a good chip (not a great one by any means) and would work pretty well in normal office application and internet explorer, and does have a decent turn of speed for the price.

Some people have been able to get cheap Voodoo3's for around $50 with coupon's, rebates, etc. This is a better card for gaming, but would also be perfectly fine for 2D.

In all honesty, the big developments in graphics cards now are in 3D areas. 2D has seen little development over the last few years compared with 3D developments, so pretty much all of todays graphics cards are good for normal office work.

Last week, staples.com had the voodoo3 3000 PCI for $130; today it's $100 (item 426159). (of course the $30 rebate ended yesterday), but use a $25 off coupon and you get it for about $75 shipped. The next lowest price I found for it is ~ $112 (at onvia).

You can get a Voodoo Banshee if you can find one!

It has excellent 2D core and it's cheap (and also good for a bit of gaming).

Sorry for my english.

3DFX Velocity 100 AGP would be a great choice, or a Voodoo 3. Great 2D, plus great 3D to boot.

get a voodoo3 1000 / 2000 or velocity 100, should all be fine. I wouldn't get the savage4 as they aren't as good 2d wise generally, and cost the same and are slower in 2d. A rage128vr card like the xpert 2000 ati mightbe a good choice as well.
