Cosmos 1000 aftermarket 120mm Fans

I' was looking over the stock fans that came with the cosmos 1000 and I thought "meh...it can be better with aftermarket ones in order to get better air flow).

But I don't know honestly where to start. I know of two brands that seem to be good according to friends of which I've seen use.

I've got these under consideration. Any opinions? Thanks in advance!

Scythe USA

Now it would be, as far as the Scythe are concerned only, a set of 5 (One rear fan, two top fans, one HDD fan, and one bottom fan opposite of the power supply).

Simply because I want to. let's put it this way: I have no faith in the ones that came with the case, so I would rather not take chances and just go along with getting aftermarkets.

You need to know the CFM ratings of what's in the case now in order to be able to pick fans that will move more air than they do.

CFM - Cubic feet per minute.

the manual probably won't have it. My recommendation is to pull one of the fans find the model and look it up on newegg.

Updates: I just pulled the fans out and I found the following

[Cooler Master - Case Fan - 120 mm - 44 CFM - 20 dBA - A12025-12CB-3BN-F1]

Cooler Master
A12025-12CB-3BN-F1
100120-079

So pretty much what I could go with is not the particular Ultra Kaze but of the following two types (two of the 140mm and 3 of the 120mm)

For the two top

For the rear, bottom, and HDD cooling areas (I just plan to have two to three hard drives later)

I think those are going to be alright? Any takers? Thanks in advance for the words!

Those Scythe 140mm fans are actually using 120mm mounting holes, so they wouldn't work for the 140mm holes you're looking at.

I've been looking at 140mm's as well, I think the yates look pretty good, but haven't ordered one yet. Those and more here:

and here:

p.s. the 120mm Scythes you linked to are 38mm deep, so they can be too bulky for some applications. Also don't have the best reviews as far as noise.

p.p.s. I've loved the S-Flex fans since they came out. Great for heatsinks, cases, whatever you throw at them. The Slipstreams are great for exhaust fans. Haven't used Silverstone fans but hear decent things about them.

Oh...I missed the point of the 140mm - I thought that in the Cosmos, like some other cases, the top space is actually a 140mm mount. Cool, try those out, let us know what you think of them.

That model slipstream (1900rpm) is actually fairly loud. Lower the speed on a controller and it's good. I'd really suggest the S-Flex over it, but they're almost twice the price.
(btw correct your link

Zagood: uh yeah thanks on that. So I changed it to the S-Flex as you said. Expensive but I'm sure they will be worth it. I will let you know but that would have to be till later since I'm right now working on slowly building my rig (probably get it all done in getting all the parts by the time Win 7 comes out). But I will PM you once I get this going. Thanks again.

i just ordered 2 of the low speed 140x25mm yate loons from frozencpu, as well as 3 of the 120 low speeds and 1 120 high speed. i can let you know how they sound once i get them. i got the blue UVLED version, not that it should matter since they are basically the same spec.

Faxon: Ah okay. I'm still bent on using Scythe (that brand...it's sooo shiny *eyes sparkle*). But in all seriousness sure I would love to get a clip of it when you have it ready.

Oh yeah, that signature, you were at the uh thread I had started earlier last month huh? Well, as I said, still taking my sweet time building this rig. LOL.
