Man, I wish I was a millionaire. :( This should be a great collectors car. The word is, this will be the fastest sports car GM ever produces.

Produces or produced? If produces, then I doubt it... Even with the CAFE hurdle, they'll find a way to best the ZR-1. They have to...

Have to? No, not really. Maybe I'm being pessimistic but I believe the new CAFE requirements signed by Bush will severely hurt HP down the line. C7 around 2012 might be the last Corvette model for sometime with high HP. Vettes get good gas mileage but 35 mpg avg requirement is pretty steep hill to climb.

I hope so, but it's doubtful with the new restrictions.

i don't get why everyone thinks we'll be driving prius's cause of CAFE regulations. it seems relatively easy for GM to come out with a car faster than the ZR-1.

btw, can't wait for it to come out :D

I don't think CAFE requires every single car in a lineup to reach a 35 mpg avg, just the avg of their entire lineup as a whole. Considering the ZR1 isn't a high volume car, I doubt it makes a dent to GM's CAFE.

Yes but the reason GM can build ZR1 is because of the base Corvette sales. I have my doubts of the future after C7. Not saying GM will discontinue Corvette but we could see something similar to what happened in 1972 after emission control, cats, and unleaded gas killed all horsepower. Maybe not as drastic but it's coming IMO.
