Wow... I don't understand why the fire department had to axe the car, though (according to the post)?

Well if the dealer installed it he should be good, and anyone that has the money to buy a vet should have full coverage if the dealership tries to screw him. Sucks to see such a nice car get destroyed though.

to really get at the fuel tank so their firefighting efforts would be certain the fire/heat was out..

Because their adrenaline gets pumping and they go waaaay overboard in these situations. I've seen them cut a wiring harness to kill the electrical on a car that had been on fire. That's OK, but to cut it into 10 little pieces is overkill beyond imagination. Cut a battery cable and the threat is over. Price an under-hood wiring harness these days, it runs in the thousands.

But, having said all that, they were most likely trying to get access to the underbody to fully extinguish the flames.

If they'd put an axe through one of the gas tanks, that would have been awfully exciting!

Typical domestic garbage.

yep..Text

That must have simply been an arson incident. It's fairly common knowledge that a Mercedes is impervious to such a situation. It was not caused by a failure on the car.

i wonder why in the world they were putting in a new exhaust in the first place...in the pics it looks like a standard Z06 exhaust.
