5-5-5-12 is $241 after tax and 4-4-4-12 is $275 (free shipping). The former also has a $40 mail-in rebate but I don't put much faith in those--it's been about four months since I sent one in to Newegg and I haven't gotten anything back.

I know that the performance difference between timings is pretty negligable, but does RAM rated at lower timings OC better when set higher? And wouldn't that assume that I go past the 800MHz it's already rated at? There's no guarantee I'll get 400FSB with an E6400/E6600.

the last digit, the 12 is the number you wanna be concerned with for OC'ing. And since they are both 12, doesn't really matter. I'd pay $40 bucks for the 4-4-4-12 though but thats just me.

I'm curious about this too.

Will the 5-5-5-12 reach 4-4-4-12 you think?

I'm about to purchase..

E6600 (purchased but on back order)
Asus nForce 590 SLI Intel Edition (when it comes out)
another 7900GT for SLI (currently have an eVGA 7900GT @ 500 core)
