Picked these up at outpost.com about a month ago. Anyone who doesn't want to spend a lot of $$$ should consider this ram since it doesn't cost much more than value ram right now.

I have revision 7.1 which has ProMos chip (?).

1000mhz

The ram is rated at 4-4-4-12 at 1.9V. I am running 5-5-5-15 at 2.0V. I am sure there is even more overclocking headroom but I haven't tried above 2.0 voltage.

Newegg $209 after MIR

Feel free to share your 5400C4 overclocks. I want to see even farther !

Update: Orthos blend tested for ~10 hours (see below)

Very kewl.

The real question though is whether or not the current stuff newegg has is D9s.

I think not.

Maybe someone has more info on that...

The House of Help forums list the v7.1 stuff as being Promos as far as i can see.

Not sure if that's the latest, but it's the newest on RAM GUY's list.

Yes, you are right these are not Micron D9s. CM2X1024-5400C4 XMS5402 v7.1 0629230-11 = ProMOS 0.09u 64Mx8 ETT Rev E

Hmm...then I wonder what a safe overclocking voltage for that chip is? I could try 2.1 or 2.2 and let you know how far this stuff goes, but I don't want to kill it. 2.0V from 1.8V stock seems reasonable, but not sure if it's a good idea to push beyond 10%. What do you think?

cpu-z shows that the chips are old though, week 40 of 2005. I got it on special for $160 so I thought these are old chips being phased out. That's why I was so surprised they overclocked so well.

Wait so you're saying now yours are Promos @ 1000?!? :Q

That i find remarkable...actually a little too remarkable.

Can you run Orthos Blend (not small ffts) for over an hour?

How about HCI Memtest? does it fail anywhere before 1000% coverage across all available memory?

it takes about 20min for 100% coverage so it's about 3.5hours of memtest.

Since the Blend tests both cpu and ram, I wanted to make sure I isolated the ram from the cpu. I changed the FSB to 250 (2000mhz speed for E6400) and set ram ratio as 1:2 (4.0+ in Gigabyte DS3 bios). At 2.0V, the test failed within 5 minutes. However, after bumping the voltage to 2.1V everything went smoothly.

thx op! I'm in a bit of mourning since the crucial 10th anniv. 3-3-3 sticks have disappeared from newegg ;(

o well guess i wait for the rd600/650i boards to come out and ddr2 prices to drop under $200 for 2gb of o/c ram..

There should be no short supply of cheap n' dirty o/c modules!

Is 2.1v safe for DDR2 memory? I just ordered the 1GB (2x512MB) XMS2-675 Corsair from ZZF for $106, and I was hoping to get it to about 800 MHz--a 19% overclock, which doesn't seem like a whole lot, but which might still require some excess voltage.

Wish me luck.

Good luck.

2.1V seems reasonably safe from the 1.9V default. It is roughly 10.5% increase in voltage from the specs which is generally considered to be a safe bet. I think going to DDR2-800 shouldn't be an issue with 1.9V, at most 2.0.

Mwa ha ha ha. I've got a pair and other than overclockers.co.uk I can't see them anywhere for sale on the internet. They must have the last few left.

Any Corsair DDR2 memory is safe and within warranty up to 2.1v. Some other Dominator models are rated at 2.2v and 2.4v.

Seeing the Promos ICs at 1000mhz is not surprising. Most any Promos based Dominator will do 900mhz+ easily. But, getting these listed here at a low price is a really cool deal. Good find.
