Corsair XMS Vs. Micron

No thanks, i've read in a few threads now that some of the buffalo ram advertised as pc3200 won't do 200mhz. Also, the price difference between bufffalo at CL3 and Crucial at CL3 is like 2$ and I would rather have crucial if all things are equal.

I second the vote for buffalo 🙂

I am definitley not going with buffalo, I appreciate the advice, but that isnt what this thread is about.

I know that some people have been lucky with Buffalo, but I am not interested in them. They don't offer anything better than Crucial in the same price range, and I have read that sometiems their pc 3200 wont run at 200mhz.

I have 0 interest in buffalo

buffalos are OOS at newegg anyway... my PC3700s had to be RMAd today... of all the success stories around here... i had to get stuck with two duds. 🙁

RATED speeds and POSSIBLE speeds are quite different. It isn't impossible for 333MHz memory to run @ 400MHz. Or CL3 to run at CL2.5 or CL2.

However, given your expressed uninterest in buffalo, twinmos, etc, and the price difference. I would say Crucial.

Indeed.

You see, if I order Crucial or Micron, (especially crucial) I KNOW they are going to run as advertised, I don't have to worry, and if by some chance I get a bad stick, the customer service of crucial is simply unparralleled.

So, I just want to know, if the tighter times on the XMS are worth another 40$ over the crucial

Thanks for the opinion. I appreciate it. I was thinking that the tighter timings probably are not worth 40$

I just don't want to gamble with maybe stuff like buffalo, its not worth it to me.

yet another suggestion that has nothing to do with your thread... get some hyperX from the hot deals forum

heheh thanks

in the course of this thread I did alot of poking around, and ended up going with what I thought I would: Crucial.

You guys may have your Kingston/Buffalo/Geil fads... but I will always end up with Crucial because I trust their quality!

maybe they got the infineon buffalo?
last time i checked.. newegg doesn't even sell the winbond buffalo... the winbond buffalo is what you want...

Crucial

I was just hpoing if someone could tell me if the price difference is justified with the crucial? For running it 200mhz in a Soltek Nv400-l64 with overclocked barton 2500+ ?

Crucial if you want to run everything at stock speed, its a good and stable memory module at a very decent price
Corsair if you plan to overclock, it will clock better than Crucial
