I just bought a 2 gb kit of TWIN2X2048-6400PRO at Frys electronics. This 5-5-5-12 kit is all they had. I noticed that Newegg has the TWIN2X2048-6400C4PRO kit that has 4-4-4-12 timings. I have actually been able to run my kit in 4-4-4-12, but I was wondering if the TWIN2X2048-6400C4PRO 4-4-4-12 kit would allow me any more performance gain? They cost a little more but is it worth it to take mine back to frys and order the C4 kit from newegg? Is there that much performance diference between the two kits? I am using an Abit AW9D-Max motherboard and Core Duo 6600 CPU.

Unfortunately there is no knowing what set is better. You need to know the revision and unfortunately both sets use Promos or Infenion now. Both perform similarly.

On the set you do have in hand, you can check your ICs IC Inquiry Thread

Any advantage on what "might" be gained with a different set of memory will be partially determined by how much you are willing and able to OC. Since you can run both 5,5,5, and 4,4,4, timings with your current memory, you could test them head to head and see what gains you get. Try it doing what you built the machine to do to see if there is any real gain to be had.

thanks yellowbeard for the comprehensive list. Frys have the PC6400Pro for $249.99 otd, I am gonna check it out.
If the PC6400Pro is made by Micron, how does this overclock??
Board is Asus P5B Deluxe
Heatsink is gonna be Thermaltake Big Typhoon
Can I hit 3.2 on E6400??? If I can, please advice the setting
thank you

IF they are Micron they will clock very well. If possible check the serial number and compare it to the IC list.
