Corsair XMS PC3200 Running at PC2700 Speeds on A7N8X DELUXE - HELP

EDIT: FIXED Upped Mem voltage to 2.8

Ok.

My default memory speed was 166 MHz I just realized...

That is PC2700 speed. So I restart and go into BIOS. I use "AGGRESIVE" settings and it sets the speed to 200 MHz. I restart and I can hear the computer but I can't see anything on the monitor. (I didn't change ANY video settings).

I reset the CMOS and everything works fine. So i go back to settings and use "USER DEFINED" settings. I set it to 100% which is 200 MHz. Restart. Same problem : nothing on monitor. So I reset CMOS again and everything's fine.

By the way, I'm 200 MHz x 11.5 = 2.2 GHz. The A7N8X Deluxe has 1 Slot for PC2700 and 2 Slots for PC3200 and I'm using it on one of the two blue ones that are supposedly PC3200.

My ram is Corsair XMS 512MB PC3200 "CMX512-3200PT." DDR400...

Still not working at PC3200 speeds...

Can someone help me here? Should I get new memory?

I always thought the colors signified which ones were for Dual Channel. Oh well 🙂

Anyway... Try lowering the multiplier. (eg 200x9, 200x10) It may be that your CPU doesn't like that frequency.

Also, what are you setting the timings at?

You may also try upping the mem voltage to 2.7. 2.8 is safe even 🙂

I have that same board and ram (two sticks) and JustAnAverageGuy is correct about the color of the DIMM slots. Try his other suggestions if you haven't already. I assume you're using the latest bios.

200mhz frequency never runs correctly for me (mobo doesn't even POST), so I just have it at 166 at all times.

BTW, the memory frequency isn't memory clock. Memory clock is determined by you CPU clock. I have my mem freq at 166, but my mem clock is usually around PC4100
